Before Yegenek set off, he took advice from Dede Korkut in his dream. He fought heroically, defeated the tekfur, and saved his father.

First, he invaded a castle by the Black Sea, but the tekfur of the castle defeated Kazılık Koca and took him as a prisoner. He stayed in prison for sixteen years.

Bayındır Khan, the ruler of the Oghuz, held meetings where he invited the Oghuz beys to exchange ideas. In one of these meetings, a man called Kazılık Koca asked Bayındır Khan’s permission for a raid.

Meanwhile, Yegenek grew up. He visited Bayındır Khan and asked for permission to save his father. He took twenty-four soldiers with him.

Then Kazılık Koca found out that it was his son who saved him. In the end, father and son returned to their homeland together.

When Kazılık Koca got permission from Bayındır Khan, he left his newborn son, Yegenek, behind and hit the road.
