They also practised arts and crafts so they could trade them for food. The earliest civilisations settled in valleys as the lands were suitable for agriculture. For instance, one of the earliest civilisations was in Mesopotamia around 4500 BC. Another civilisation was along the Nile River around 2925 BC. It is known as Ancient Egypt.
