It’s good to know that more and more athletes, footballers in particular, tend to stand as volunteers in charity organizations to help the planet be a better place. Some even establish foundations in order for charity activities to be sustainable. Here are some of them:

MAME THIAM FOUNDATION: Mame Baba Thiam, born on October 9, 1992, is a Senegalese national. He established his foundation, which is named after him, as a nonprofit organization, the objective of which is to help the poor in any part of the world. Not only individuals but also villages and schools benefit from the organizations of the foundation. For instance, the foundation renovated a primary school in Türkiye upon a message sent by a teacher. In the post shared on the social media account of the Mame Thiam Foundation, they said “We renewed a primary school upon a message sent by a teacher. We are proud that we were able to make the school suitable for face-to-face education in a week.”

DIRK KUYT FOUNDATİON: Dirk Kuyt, born on July 22, 1980, is a former Dutch national footballer. In 2005, he set up a charity foundation in his name to enable the disabled to do sports. Dirk Kuyt explains, “For many of us, sports is obvious, but unfortunately, this is not the case for people with disabilities. I want to make sporting events possible for this group in particular so that they can experience how much fun sport is.” The foundation not only supports major charity events but also raises funds for the local ones.

SAMUEL ETO’O FOUNDATİON: Samuel Eto’o, born on March 10, 1981, is a Cameroonian football administrator and former player who is the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation. Samuel Eto’o Foundation was established in 2006 as a nonprofit organization which works mainly in West Africa. The main aim of the foundation is to work in order to provide opportunities for disadvantaged youth in Cameroon where living is risky and unsure, through education, health, and sports.
