When I moved from İstanbul to Eskişehir for university three years ago, I felt a bit anxious at first because I did not know much about life there. Hovvever, över time, I realised that it is a nice and safe place for students from Türkiye and other countries.İn Eskişehir, daily life is easy. Most places in the city centre, like shops, markets, cafes, pharmacies and gyms, are within walking distance. Additionally, there are various restaurants that serve home-style meals at reasonable prices, so students can manage their budgets without difficulty. University campuses are well connected to the city, and students can easily access libraries and study spaces as well as other urban facilities.Public transportation is convenient, too. Trams and buses connect different parts of the city, and this makes travelling easy and affordable. The city also has bike lanes, so many students choose cycling as a practical and healthy option. In addition, high-speed trains help students travel quickly to other cities and explore new places. What's more, there is an airport close to the city centre with both domestic and international flights. This gives students the opportunity to travel for studies, holidays or family visits.The city offers lots of fun activities for leisure. Museums and the old houses of Odunpazarı are interesting places to visit. Parks such as Sazova Science, Culture, and Art Park and Kentpark are great locations to chill out outdoors. The Porsuk River also plays an important role in social life, as it is a popular meeting point for friends to spend time together and enjoy gondola rides.As a result, Eskişehir is a great example of how a non-metropolitan city can provide a social, comfortable, and student- friendly environment. Students can balance their academic studies with an active social life and enjoy the city without stress. Easy access to transport and daily services supports this balance as well.
