Hello, my name is Ayşe. When I compare my grandparents’ lives with my parents’ lives today, I can see clear changes in daily routines, hobbies, and family life. My grandparents, Aygül and Yusuf, lived in a small village in a traditional farmhouse. Their life was simple and traditional, wasn't it? My grandmother used to wake up before sunrise every day. She baked bread, cooked meals over a wood fire, and washed clothes by hand. She could manage all the household chores by herself. My grandfather was a farmer. He used to work in the fields from morning until evening. He could work long hours outside and do many physical tasks on the farm. He also grew his own vegetables. They did not have modern hobbies such as playing sports or watching films. Their free-time activities were mostly family activities. In the evenings, they used to sit together at home, have tea, talk, and tell stories. Spending time together as a family was the most important part of their lives, wasn’t it?Today, my parents, Şule and Kemal, live with me in İstanbul. Their daily routines are very different from my grandparents’ routines. Both of my parents work outside the house. My father is a software developer, and my mother is a chef. They go to work early and come home in the evening. At home, both of my parents share the household chores. They use modern appliances such as a washing machine and a dishwasher, so the work takes less time.My father enjoys doing sports, while my mother prefers watching sci-fi films and documentaries in the evenings. Sometimes, they watch sit-coms together at home and spend quality time as a family. Just like in the past, family time is still important, isn’t it?
